Sit down or take a break! It's high time to wait. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and... listen! Listen carefully to nothing! Or rather yes, ... the lapping of the water, the dull sound of the waves on board, the tinkling of the little optimists' ropes, the creaking of the boats on the pontoons... Listen to this gentle rocking which, without a doubt, will bring calm and appeasement. It is into this atmosphere that we invite you to dive... From north to south, welcome to the South Coast of Landes, along the blue thread... between stories and legends.
Moliets-et-Maâ, the Courant d’Huchet nature reserve
Also called the “Little Amazon of the Landes”, we can only imagine the exotic and relaxing effect of this reserve endowed with great botanical wealth. Discovered at the beginning of the 20th century by an Italian poet, the Courant d'Huchet connects Lake Léon and the Atlantic Ocean. It is known to be home to many species of birds, mammals and often rare aquatic animals. The naturalist guides and boatmen will help you discover all its richness.
Messanges, the Moïsan pond
In the heart of the Landes forest, the Etang de Moisan is a relaxation area where it is good to come and seek freshness. A small, very intimate lake, it runs along it, between marshes and wet meadows. Don't hesitate to take your picnic with you or a fishing rod for fans. You're going to want to stay there for a while.
Soustons pond
Fed by several streams, this large elongated body of water stretches to form the Soustons current, which flows into the ocean at the level of the Port d'Albret marine lake.
It’s a diverse place. A place where internationally renowned high-level sport and protected nature coexist. To the north, near the village of Azur, the Ponton advances – as if floating – towards a Natura 2000 classified area.
To the south, an internationally known plan designed for the practice of nautical activities. The French Rowing team has even made it their home sweet home.
On the city side, it can be appreciated and admired from Pointe des Vergnes, a unique garden where 18 species of trees, ducks, squirrels and other small inhabitants coexist.
Between Vieux-Boucau and Soustons, the Port d’Albret lake
Created in 1970, Lake Port Albret is a marine lake uniting two municipalities. It has become a place for everyone where visitors meet, share and exchange. Its island, in its center, seems abandoned, a bit like that of Robinson Crusoe. Above all, it is a place of refuge for many species of birds. With its 27 species of birds including the black kite, quasi-owner of the place, and its plant varieties of heritage interest present in particular in the eelgrass herbarium, in the north of the island, the site has been recognized for its value heritage. Without being able to dock there, the numerous signs placed near the lake will answer your questions.
Cultural walk, quick morning jog, family swim in the afternoon and sunset in the evening? Everything comes together and this place will no longer have any secrets for you.

Seignosse – Soustons, the black pond and the white pond
The two twins face each other. One with dark marshy highlights and the other with silver highlights.
Similar but unique. The Etang Noir is a nature reserve which is home to unique fauna and flora. Its color is due to its depth, which gives it a mysterious, almost mystical air. -> to visit with children, the walk is short, accessible and shaded.
The Etang Blanc arouses the curiosity of its visitors just as much with its fishermen's huts. Called “tons”, these cabins on stilts dot the pond.
Soustons, Hardy’s pond
Quieter next to its big brothers, Etang d'Hardy enjoys a privileged location. Connected to the Etang Blanc, it is less accessible but as soon as you arrive at its edge, it is worth it.
Capbreton, the boudigau
A fully-fledged entity of Capbreton, it was dug by hand. As you stop at the edge, you can almost see the scene pass before your eyes. The inhabitants of the communes bordering the Adour, with picks and shovels, joined forces to form the current Boudigau. The sweat on their foreheads, the concentration in their eyes and the smiles on their faces once the project is finished. Today, we walk or cycle along it from the Saturday morning market to the fish market at the port.
Labenne – Orx, the Marsh of Orx
The place where water takes back its rights. The Marsh of Orx is a territory that appeared 3 million years ago. Despite attempts to dry it out, water regularly regains its rights. Today it is full of unique and exceptional wildlife. Many species of birds have chosen to make it their home. If we go there, we take the opportunity for a quiet visit.
The Adour
Drawing its source from the Pyrenees, it extended into the Landes and shaped the bodies of water in our territory. The landscapes and the identity of the villages which border it only accentuate its strong and unforgettable character. You can cycle along it using the towpath from Barthes de Saubusse to Bec des Gaves.
We take the time on the way to stop and perhaps see a wooden boat in the water. The “bayoune” galupe, currently being restored by a collective of volunteers, should be restored in 2023 to be closer to the Adour again. The launch is scheduled for July 16, 2023. Like a flashback.
And because cycling is boring, we suggest you stop near the Marquèze bridge for a well-deserved picnic.
Because water is precious…
