Quilles de trois (“very” in Gascon) are a game of bowling played in the lower Adour valley, more commonly called “bass Adour”. They remained the main recreational activity there until the 1960s. A game of skittles consisting of knocking down three aligned skittles using a wooden ball.
The playing area: its central part is covered with rubber to absorb shock, thus protecting the ball and limiting noise. Today, it is more often called “the bottom”, “the stopper” or “the wall”. This installation is very discreet, in the absence of the players and their equipment, nothing indicates the use of this space.
